Christian Tschida farms 10 hectares of his vines that have been with his family since the 19th century. His vineyards are located in the eastern most point of Austria in the Neusiedler See region of Austria. He uses a vertical basket press, and ages the wines for up to 5 years in barrel in contact with oxygen. No sulfur additions after 2015. He never racks the wine, and bottles by hand for freshness and a little bit of residual CO2 for preservation.
Juice is crushed by foot and fermented in large barrels with indigenous yeast and no racking. It spends 1 year aging in 500 to 1500-liter barrels and is bottled without fining or filtering and no addition of sulfur. Cherries, watermelon, stone fruit and guava. High acid and a little fizz when she's first opened. Natty.
