Former wrestler turned wine enthusiast, Ryan Stirm found his way into the wine uni by way of Cal Poly and gardening with his grandma. He is a Bay Area native, a true Cali boy, realizing his obsession with nature in the hills of Mount Diablo and the rivers of San Pablo Bay. He studied soil science, plant protection science and sustainable agriculture at Cal Poly. Ryan uses three 60 yr old Redwood fermenters inherited from his landlord where 60 vintages of Santa Cruz Mountain Red wines have been fermented. He's a nature boy, a Cali boy and a refreshing addition to the Santa Cruz mountains.
The 'Wirz Vineyard' Riesling is hand-picked, whole cluster fermented riesling from 55yo vines in the Cienega Valley AVA. Limestone soils have weathered into sandy loam, causing poor soils and healthy AF plants. Riesling with a little bod, orchard fruits, great acidity. Great coastal influence and low yields. Very little sulfur added.
