I went to Skerk one time. My GPS stopped working at some point along the drive, but my tiny Fiat and I somehow ended up in the Carso, a stone's throw from Slovenia. They fed us meats that had cured in their garage, delicious cheeses and wine for days. Skerk makes wine in the old school Carso style, whites are macerated on skins and with ton of punching down for full, fleshy flavor without oxidation.
The Terrano is Refosco from clay and iron soils. Maceration on the skins for 25 days. No fining or filtration. Bloody, magical, powerful and full of iron rich acidity.
