Romain Paire ’Côte Roannaise’ Gamay Loire, France 2018
Regular priceSale price
Côte Roannaise is sort of a country cousin to Beaujolais, sitting about 80km west of in the deep dirty south of the Loire Valley. It is often referred to as the 11th cru of Beaujolais, being it shares the same granite soil type as its Cru Beauj. The gamay grown here is a particular strain called gamay Saint-Romain, similar to gamay but makes smaller bunches and lower yields. The Romain Paire clan is pretty much the benchmark winery of the region, 10 hectares farmed organically and harvested by hand.
This gamay shows spiced cherry and raspberry fruit, a titch of structure and phresh mineral vibes. Semi carbonique, concrete tank, bio-D deliciousness.
