Mickaël Bourg tried his hand as a mechanic for two years before deciding to hop into wine. He rents a plot of vines from a friend and winemaker, and owns just 1.5 hectares of vine on his own. He uses whole cluster fermentation on his reds, makes a delightfully earthy Syrah and offers a super great value for Cornas. Siiick.
2016 produced some elegant, fresh and somewhat delicate wines in the Rhône. This Cornas, however, is some rustic, chunky Syrah for dat ass. Earth, tobacco, cassis, leather, body, baking spice, integrated tannin. Put a deer on a spit, light a splif and get down.
