Jean Foillard took over his father's estate in 1980, and proceeded to make super age worthy, super world class wines in the Morgon region of Beaujolais. The vineyards are mainly planted on the Côte du Py, the super fly, super famous slope of land outside the town of Villié-Morgon that has all the wine geeks raging. He is traditional in his practices- only plucking from old vines, never using herbicides or pesticides in the vineyards and adding very little sulfur. His wines are deep, structured and complex as all get down. Treat yo self.
The Eponym is fermented whole cluster and aged 6-9 months in neutral barrel. The grapes come from Les Charmes- the highest altitude lieu dit in the appellation. Full, silky, aromatic and super graceful. Red fruits, herbs, minerals and freshAF acidity. Do it.
