Henri Milan 'Papillon Rouge' Grenache-Syrah-Niellucio Provence, France 2018
Regular priceSale price
Like Barry Zito throwing his famous curve ball at age 7, Henri Milan had planted multiple vines before the age of 10.
In 1986, he took over the family property in the foothills of Provence’s Alpilles mountain range with the intent to bottle and sell the wine rather than sell graped to local co ops. Intent on growing grapes best suited to soil types rather than to government standards, Henri left the AOP. The wines are marked by low intervention, the Mediterranean Sea and the Mistral wind that keeps the vines cool and dry.
The Papillon Rouge is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Niellucio aged in concrete. Unfined, unfiltered with no added SO2. Red and black fruits with bright acidity.
