If you are not familiar with winemaker, Laura Lorenzo, it's time to get woke. Laura farms vines all over the eastern reaches of Ribeira Sacra, with some plantings in the neighboring Valdeorras and in Arribes further south. And she is real, real good at it. She shuns the DO, striving to express the varying terruños, microclimates and grape varieties that make Ribeira Sacra one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Her wines are formal, elevated and serious but with a playful, approachable vibe. Hop on.
The Azos do Pobo comes from steep terraces and 80-120 yr old vines- some planted on their own rootstock. This is a serious wine. Earthy, rustic and dense with dried flowers and nice tannic backbone. Decant me.
