The fam behind Bergkloster has been tending vines and making wines since the 18th century. The current vineyard property has been with the family for 120 years on the sunny hillsides of Westofen area in the Rheinhessen. The have about 9 hectares of vines spread out through various subregions, all in one of the hottest regions in Germany. Wines tend to have a little bod, a remarkable fruit component and bracing acidity. Wines are super eco- no chemicals or herbicides and no additives in the cellar.
The Bergkloster Riesling is an unfiltered, unadulterated, little number full of orchard fruit, a little white flower and nuttiness on the palate. Lean and mean but complex and full of flavor. Spends time on the lees. Natty.
