Barbacàn 'Rosso di Valtellina' Nebbiolo Lombardia, Italy 2018

Angelo Sega and his sons farm just 3 hectares of vines in San Giacomo di Teglio, Valtellina on the border of Switzerland in the Italian Alps. These steeply terraced glacial rock vineyards sit at 450 meters above sea level and are a bitch to farm. The wines are graceful and full of Alpine influence balanced by a fair amount of afternoon heat.
The Rosso di Valtellina is technically their entry level wine and baby, she fire. Red cherries, minerals and smoke. That delicate tar and dried roses kind of nose that makes you either want to climb the hills of Valtellina or just climb into bed for a nap. Decant, she's a little reductive at first.
