The Dönnhoff family joined the forces of the Nahe over 200 years ago, and has been slaying the game ever since. They farm 25 hectares of Erste Lage, or grand cru vineyards and are considered some of the best in the entire region. Grapes are picked by hand, wines fermented spontaneously, sounds too good to be true is, in fact, true.
Höllenpfad translates to 'Path to Hell,' probably a reference to the steep slopes and the red soil and that fact that only the devil himself could make a wine this fire. Peppery spiced fruit aromas, flavors of rich fruit. Totally dry.
