Champagne Marie Courtin is located in the village of Polisot in the Côte des Bars. It is run by farmer and winemaker, Dominique Moreau, who named the winery after her late grandmother. Dominique is something of a spiritual being, using pendulums to test the grapes on the vines, evaluating their natural energy and rhythm as they grow. She created the winery with the idea in mind of single vineyard, single vintage Champagnes from biodynamic vineyards- a practice not typically seen in Champagne.
The Efflorescence is harvested from 35-40 yr old vines on mostly clay soils with a little Kimmeridgian in the mix. The vineyard is lower in altitude and the wine has a definite power. Earthy, expressive fruit, laser like focus, zero dosage. Spiritual AF.
